Christmas Plaid

So you've seen this look for as the main picture for my holiday style gift guide, now here is the post dedicated to it! I love this shirt so much!! When we got it in at J.Crew, it sold so quickly, I knew I needed to snatch one up and good thing I did. Here is the link to it, but I know there aren't many sizes left. Also, my skirt is from Express and is from a couple seasons ago. Every time I wear it I get so many compliments. It's very festive and is great for holiday events!!! Once again, you will notice that it's a bell skirt silhouette. You know that's one of my favorites!! It's so classic and looks good on all body types!! Shooting this was so fun with my friend Erika of Erika Aileen Photography. I knew I wanted something festive, but not overly thought-out and "too perfect" if you guys know what I mean. So I bought this this $5.50 bottle of Andre, grabbed some Ball Jar glasses, and headed to Erika's home, where we shot this. She had the fun straws and a blanket and boom! That's all we needed. The evergreens at her house were perfect. After that, we just had fun with it!!!

Working at J.Crew...I suggest button-downs a lot to people and more often than you would think, they make a face at me...I think a lot of people are under the assumption that button-downs are too casual for fancy occasions, or something. I'm not sure....but this look just goes to show that you can definitely dress up a basic button-down by pairing it with a skirt and some statement necklaces. It's so easy and comes naturally to me to think of things in different terms of styling them...but I have to remember that not everyone is open to that sort of thing. I'm working on it! :)

My pearls I got from my mother for my high school graduation. I was valedictorian of my class and wanted something I could wear to the commencement. And I've always loved pearls. My mother surprised me with them and I still love them and wear them a lot. I let me sister borrow them for her wedding day, and I too wore them on my wedding day. They're very special to me. The other statement necklace is J.Crew and I think is sold out, so here is a link to a similar style. Since I bought it, I think I've worn it at least every other  day!
