The Happy Ending
Now Playing: Castle on the Hill - Ed Sheeran
As the title indicates....this post is a big life update post and a very happy one!! To start, I just want to say a giant THANK YOU to everyone who read my last post!!!!! The outpouring of supportive comments on instagram, facebook, and texts I got from people both shocked me and made feel so humbled to have so many people supporting us. So again, THANK YOU EVERYONE!!
In fact, it is because of the response I got from everyone, who were just as outraged as I was by the renters insurance situation following our break-in, that I decided to consult a couple of attorneys. I explained the situation and all of the issues to them, and I was told that we had a good case against the insurance company! So Greg and I discussed it, and we decided we would seek legal action against Homesite Insurance should it come to that. The first step was to email them and let them know we had consulted an attorney and would be seeking legal action against them if they did not reverse their decision to deny us coverage. I sent that email to our claims adjuster and then about 4 days later I received an email from the claims supervisor saying that "upon further review" of our case they have decided to rescind our denial of coverage and were going to offer us a settlement!!!!!!!! BOOM BABY. When I got that email I think I exhaled the biggest breath I have in months. My god, what a fucking process. So from then on out I have only dealt with the claims supervisor, and she has emailed me back within a couple hours every time and yesterday, when we finally got the last of the settlement that we were owed, the claims supervisor called me and personally apologized for everything that we have gone through throughout the claim. She has been great to work honestly, but I still would never recommend getting renters insurance through Progressive from everything else that went down. Now, the question is...did all of this happen because we threatened to sue, or because we provided 3 forms of proof of our laptops, or because they read my blog???? (kidding, they didn't read the blog haha) I don't know what is was that finally fit into place for us but I AM SO HAPPY that it's over now!!!! And that we won!!!! Should we have gone through all of that in the first place??? NO. And that makes me wonder about how many times they just screw people over on a false technicality and people just lay down and give up. I'm so glad we didn't lie down and take that shit. It feels good to fight for what's right and WIN! I don't know if we would have sought legal action had it not been for all of you, so, much love guys...MUCH LOVE.
Okay. Insurance saga is over. That's happy ending #1. Moving on to happy ending #2: my job!!!
I am now a stylist lead with Armoire!!! Armoire is a company that provides a clothing rental subscription for women! Please go check out our website to see the whole deal, but basically you fill out a style profile with us and then a stylist (could be me :)) curates a virtual closet for you of 12-18 items specifically picked out for you. You can view your virtual closet online, then provide feedback on all of the items, and then select your 4 favorites and we ship them to you!! You keep them for as long as you want and then ship them back to us, and we build you a new virtual closet with new items! You have the option to buy things you really love, but there is no pressure to buy. Also, we take care of the dry cleaning and shipping so you don't have to worry about that! We cater to all different styles and body types, and we like to think of ourselves as dressing boss lady's from a to z!
So what a cool concept right??? I really believe our service is solving a problem!! I mean I love to shop, let's be clear, but also...how many of you wear a dress to a wedding or event one time and then it just hangs in your closet for a year? I am crazy about wearing something multiple times, so half of the shit I have is worn once or twice a year. The company is a little over a year old and growing! I am absolutely LOVING it so far. It's crazy what a difference being in a career that you actually enjoy makes! When I think about my days as an engineer, I can't believe I let myself be so miserable for 3 years. I used to wake up and have anxiety and immediate dread about going into work and having to be engaged in my projects. It was awful. Now I wake and am excited to get ready for work. Everyone that I work with is amazing. They are so nice and everyone is passionate about getting after it and making the company grow. I'm busy all day long, there's always 20 different things going on, and my days FLY by! Which I really love. I feel so, so lucky to have joined the Armoire team. I have a couple of my own style projects, and I feel like I am able to have a real impact in other women's lives and also in the company. That's what I've been searching for. I can't wait to see what the future holds with Armoire. If you have any questions about Armoire, or are interested in maybe subscribing, please feel free to reach out to me!!!
Also, I'm happy to be able to offer you guys $50 off of your first month with the promo code "thecolorfloral", so head over to Armoire to check it out and see your first closet for free without even having to subscribe! :)
Anyway, now you guys see why I thought the balloons photos were perfect for this post. Even though this look was shot back in Indiana with Erika Aileen Photography, I have been saving it for a special post and this is definitely it. This outfit is about celebration and summer and happiness, and I feel like after a month of stress and anxiety and all kinds of semi-shit situations I have arrived in this happy content place. The only thing missing is Greg getting a job. That's the final thing that we're waiting to fall into place. Hopefully it will happen soon....he's been working so hard on it every day. Finding a job is so tough!!! Which is another reason I'm so grateful to have found Armoire.
On to outfit details. These are my shorts of the summer!!!! They are very "me" with the high waist and big bow and such. This is one of my favorite outfits...it's all J.Crew, with the red sneakers from Target several years ago. We shot this look as part of my farewell to Indiana. I miss Erika so much!!! Enjoy these fun photos guys. Thanks for following along!!!!!
