Friend Feature: Emmy
Emily has been my friend since sophomore year of college. I remember when I was first getting to know her, I was at her apartment, spotted Burberry rain boots...and just knew we were going to become great friends. Haha Later on she told me that her mom sent her those and I couldn't believe it. I don't think my mom knew what Burberry even was at that time!
Emily, or Emmy, as I typically call her, (in case you guys haven't noticed, I'm a nickname person), is from Geneva, IL. Geneva is a suburb of Chicago. Emmy has always had great style and I feel like every time I see her these days she has a new Tory Burch bag and I'm swooning. Since college, Emily has worked in Midland, TX as an EE for Halliburton. She wears what I call a space suit to work. It isn't a desirable look. I went to visit her in Texas one time and saw the suit and I remember asking her how she puts that thing on and doesn't actually go to the moon. :) I wish I had a picture of it to show you. Anyway, despite working in a less than ideal fashion world, she maintains her cute style!
Two weekends ago, we were able to see each other for our other friend Kaylee's wedding in Indy! (More on that wedding to come.) We went to brunch at Cafe Patachou downtown and Emmy had on her A-game so I had to take some photos. I'm in LOVE with her top!! I mean, how beautiful!! She got it from Dillard's here. I might have to get one for myself it's so cute! Her shorts are Tobi, similar here. Shoes are Charlotte Russe, similar here. She got her clutch from a boutique in Austin, here is a similar one. It can be a clutch or a crossbody! I love it when they have that dual function. And then her necklace is Kendra Scott, found here.
Emmy and I have very different body types. She's much shorter than I am and has boobs...or I guess curvy top half is the proper way to say it but whatever. She has narrow hips and fit legs. One of the biggest parts of dressing well is knowing your body type and how to dress it. With this look, she's got it down. She shows off her legs in the shorts and the little wedges just add to that. The long sleeves on the top make her arms looks longer. The shirt hits the shorts at the right spot making her torso look good.
What I really love about this look is that it could be perfect for so many things...like brunch with girlfriends, date night, an afternoon at a park or museum, or any kind of city-strolling. The top and small wedges make it look more polished without being overdressed. The lace shirt is girly, but paired with denim shorts, it's more urban chic. And the bell-sleeve just adds the perfect touch for early fall attire. I love being able to feature my friends on The Color Floral and provide you guys with different looks for different body types!! What do you guys think??
