Welcome to New York.

Welcome to New York.

So my best friend moved to NYC about 6 months ago. It had been her dream to move there for years now and so I was so happy for her when she and her fiancee finally made the move!! For my birthday this year, we decided to take a trip to go and visit them for a long weekend. Neither Greg or I had ever actually been to the city, as crazy as that sounds, so we were both very excited. I don't really know how to divide up this post so I'm just going to do it in days.

Day 1: Friday, September 30, 2016

It rained all damn day. It was like chilly and rainy. Not so rainy that you couldn't walk around outside, but just rainy enough so that you need your hood and it's really annoying. So we decided to do some shopping in Soho. Soho is a really cool neighborhood and there were all of your standard chain stores there, plus some NYC specific stores, which was what I was excited for. We went to those, I got a couple of things, and then I was hungry, tired of being wet, and not in the most shopping mood. Which was pretty unfortunate but when I get hungry.....I gotta eat. So we went back to Hell's Kitchen, which is where my friend Carrie lives. We grabbed some lunch and then Greg and I went to check into our hotel, called Yotel. It was very European style, like very modern, small, and compact but I liked it! One wall was a floor to ceiling window with a great view. Overall our stay there was great and it's really close to Times Square so I would recommend it!! That night we went out on the Lower East Side and met up with some of Carrie's college friends: Alex and Kelsey. I've known them for several years from visiting Carrie at IU so I was so happy to see them!!! And that's day one. Pics below.

Day Two: Saturday, October 1, 2016

Day two. IT FINALLY STOPPED RAINING! WOOO! So Greg and I went to Times Square first thing in the morning and then Rockefeller Center. Then we met up with Carrie and Tyler for bottomless mimosas and brunch. (My fav!) Then we were planning on going to Top of the Rock, but they said visibility was bad so there was no point because we wouldn't be able to see anything. So next we went to Brooklyn Bridge. This is probably the highlight of the trip for me. It was so beautiful!!!! I really loved it. I wish it wasn't so crowded, but we went on a Saturday so what did we expect. That night, we went out again. I had on a killer outfit so I was feeling great and we were kind of celebrating my birthday...so that was fun. Oh! I almost forgot. We went to this awesome restaurant for dinner that night: Vapiano, in Union Square. You go there, get a little card and then go to the pasta line of your choice and they make the pasta right in front of you and you can add whatever ingredients you want! It was so cool, and pretty quick, but like still nice and Greg and I's meal cost like $30...which is so cheap for being in the city. I recommend checking that place out if you want some good pasta but don't want to pay a bunch. That's day two! Pics below.

Day Three: October 2, 2016 (My Birthday!)

Day three was more chill. We went to brunch at this awesome little place on the Upper West Side called Isabella's. It was delicious. Then we walked to Central Park...wondered around for a while...went to the Boathouse, and the Bethesda Terrace....then walked to the Met. I had a complete Blair Waldorf moment chilling on The Met steps. Then we kind of just wondered down 5th Ave and walked by The Plaza Hotel and what not. Then it was time to head back to the airport. All in all, a great trip! Next tie we go back, I would like to do more shopping and check out more neighborhoods. There's so much to do and see. And I definitely want to check out Brooklyn more too! Hope you guys enjoy the pics and trip summary!
