Relax, Blue Midi Part 1

Relax, Blue Midi Part 1

I really love this shirt. The story of how it came to be mine is kind of funny. It's actually from Hollister surprisingly enough and it originally belonged to my brother-in-law in middle school or high school I think? My sister, Whitney, and her husband John (more on them in a minute) have been together since middle school so John has been around our family a long time. If you know John, you know that this shirt looks like something he would buy. Haha. I can't explain it but the shirt just makes me happy. I guess maybe he left it at our house one time and my mom thought it was one of ours? Who knows. Either way, I've probably had it for like 6 years and I love to bust it out every so often. It's a shirt you have to be in the right mood for. When I'm wearing it, I'm just feeling really chill. Like....no matter what craziness is going on in my life at the time...wearing it makes me take a chill pill. If that makes sense?

Anyway, for some reason I just love wearing it with different quirky skirts. Something I often do is take masculine or random graphic tees and pair them with girly bottoms just to mix it up. I think it's a good way to do something unexpected with your outfit. Another thing that's unexpected is to wear two different shoes! This was actually Brother John's idea, so I have to give him the credit. I was missing wearing my old light blue chucks and he was like just wear one of each....and I loved it! So now this is how I roll from time to time.

This shoot with Erika, of Erika Aileen Photography, was so much fun. We did it on Purdue's campus a couple weeks ago before the students came back to start school. In another post coming later, (now up here!), you will see this same skirt worn, but in a totally feminine and girly way. I wanted to show how you can have one piece that you really like, and wear it two totally different ways, so be on the look out for that coming soon!

I mentioned my sister Whitney and her husband John a couple times above. They have inspired me to start this blog and to follow my dreams because that's exactly what they have done. In a nutshell, Whitney got a degree in finance and was working in corporate america when she decided to start a DIY blog. Some time passes and HGTV comes across her blog, and asks her and John to be on their new home renovation show, Flipping the Block. Whitney and John made it onto the show and did amazing throughout the competitions each week. After they finished the show, they decided to start their own business doing real estate, home renovating and remodeling, and interior design. Whit quit her job and now their business, 27 South Home Group has grown and is doing really well in Jacksonville, FL where they live. Isn't that just really awesome!!!! I think it's amazing. They work their butts off for their clients and their hard work is paying off. Please go check out 27 South Home Group to learn more about them and their business!
