Marathon State of Mind with Brooks

Marathon State of Mind with Brooks

Well, it’s certainly been a while. If you’ve been following along with me on IG, you know Greg and I have been training for the Bend half-marathon! It’s coming up next month and we’re so excited to be able to partner with Brooks Running for our training.

Before I dive into the gear, I want to share the training schedule we’ve been following, here. This will be our first half marathon, and I was definitely nervous about being able to run this much after just having our second baby, but it’s been much easier than I thought! And with still being on mat leave, it’s given me the needed time to train 3-4x per week. I’m really happy to have commited to running the half, as it’s been the perfect motivator for me to get back in shape postpartum.

The other motivator for us has been our new Brooks gear! We’re in that period of time between winter and spring and layers have been the training key!! I love the notch line from Brooks, its thick enough for a cold run but also lightweight and sweat-wicking so you’re not packing on bulky layers. I’ve worn all of these pieces pictured below multiple times on runs ranging from 2-10 miles, and in temps anywhere from 25-50 degrees and I love that the gear is so adaptable to fit my run. Another thing I love about all of my Brooks apparel is that everything, literally every piece has a key pocket!!! Brooks gear is designed for the runner, and that shows in all the little details they put into their designs.

I’ve run in all kinds of Brooks shoes, but this is my first time trying out their trail shoes. Being in Bend, we run on gravel/dirt trails a lot and so I was so excited to try the new Catamount 2’s. I could instantly tell a difference. The traction is amazing and you have more support on different types of terrain. Highly recommend!!

Take a look at Greg’s and I’s kits and let me know if you have any questions, but everything shown is linked! I won’t run in anything other than Brooks - it really is the best!
