Engagement Photos

Engagement Photos

First of all, can I just say that these engagement photos are amazing!!!! I don't know how she does it, but Lauren, our photographer, has an awesome way of taking capturing moments in an extraordinary way. Lauren, of Lauren Koleff Photography, is a friend of ours with amazing talent. She is so fun to work with and she offered to shoot these engagement photos as a wedding gift to us....which was very generous. The pictures really speak for themselves. They turned out so well. My jaw literally flew open when I saw them. Please go check out her site to see more of her photos and I would highly recommend her if you are in need of a special events photographer!!

A little back story on Greg and I's engagement last June (2015). It was very unconventional. There was no getting down on one knee, asking my mom for her permission, or any popping of the question. Really, we had been talking about getting married for a little bit and the timing was right, so we just set a date and called ourselves engaged! Upon hearing the news, people were confused when they automatically went to look at my left hand and there was no ring there. I have no engagement ring, and really don't have any plans of ever getting one. Initially I thought maybe one day, but now I don't really care about it. Honestly, I would rather have a couple Chanel bags or something. Anyway, so our whole engagement and wedding plans were no-frills. (I'll do a separate post on our wedding later.) Greg and I are very practical people. I was just starting my career, and he was about to go to grad school, so we decided that there was no need to spend a ton of money that we didn't have. I have to admit that when I always imagined myself getting engaged, I don't think I ever pictured the guy getting down on one knee part. I'm not one for formalities like that, but I did picture a ring involved. I remember thinking about it at the time and through the course of one conversation...we started out talking about a budget for getting a ring and what I wanted and stuff...and then by the end of the conversation, I was just like screw it. I don't even really care about it. Problem solved! And I don't regret that choice one bit. I just wear my wedding band and it suites me perfectly.

Back to the photos though, Lauren had the idea to shoot in a Greenhouse. Brilliant. All the flowers and everything. You'll see. We showed up like an hour before they closed so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. (Lauren shot all of these in just an hour!) I'm in love with the photos; they are so special to us. I could probably post 200 that I loved, but I tried to narrow it down to the top 20 or so. I hope you like them!!!
