Lace Queen

Lace Queen

Now playing: Gavin Degaw's Something Worth Saving album

So let's talk some lace, shall we? Is there a girl out there who doesn't like it....very doubtful. I don't know what it is about lace, but it's just so beautiful to me...kind of like floral. It has the same type of appeal.

StyleWe sent me this skirt....I had never heard of them, but they wanted to send me something so I picked out this skirt. They have some great stuff on their website so you guys should check it out! I don't know much about the company as a whole, but based on my initial observations I would say they definitely have an Asian aesthetic to some the clothing that they sell...which is awesome! Also, this skirt is a size L and is not any too big. When I first tried it on, I had to have Greg zip me into it.....and he was like......"I don't know Stephie..." hahahah like, that was his way of saying he thought it was too tight. And let's be clear....it was very tight, but my god, I was bound and determined to make it work because I really loved it....so I waited like two weeks until the night before this shoot and tried it on again... and maybe I was weighing a little light that day, who knows, but it felt a little better and I was like.....YES! Lol Have you guys ever had moments like that? The exact skirt I'm wearing is no longer available, but here is one that's very similar.

Anyway....then I just needed something to go with it. I tried on a couple different tops...but I'll be honest with you...my "cute top" selection is pretty low. I have plenty of sweaters and skirts and dresses......and summer tops....but not many nice winter tops. So anyway, finally I landed on this little lace number from The Limited. As soon as I put it on I was like BAM....got it. My friend Kayla gave this top to me for a Secret Santa gift one year in college. Lace doesn't go out of style man!

Then it was on to accessories. I've been doing the whole layered statement necklace thing for a minute. I will admit it was inspired by me working at J.Crew. No one does it better. Anyway, I feel like it's a beautiful look. Although I will confess....it's slightly annoying to make sure that they are all aligned properly all the time, if that makes sense. Two is pretty easy, but adding the third is where it gets tricky. Anyway, I encourage you to try it with two of your statement necklaces and I guarantee you will get a lot of compliments! People always think it's one necklace and so surprised when I tell them they are actually separate pieces. (Similar statement necklace here.)

My bracelets are oldies from an Aldo set. Haven't busted them out in a while, but they went perfectly for this look. My shoes are my prized Christian Louboutins, found here

Overall, I hope you guys like this powerful, feminine look. I felt like a girl boss in it. Even though most of the time while wearing this skirt I was like.....suck in, suck in, stand up straight, suck in. Hahahah that's okay I think it was worth it.

Side note: these were taken at my photographer's home. How awesome is the church pew surrounded by evergreens?? So cool. Erika, of Erika Wetterlin Photography, knows her stuff!
